Vol. 335 No. 1

Written Answers. - Social Welfare Payments.

901.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare how much was provided in the budget to cover the promised double payments of social welfare in September and at Christmas.

In his reference to double payments in his Budget Statement on 25 March 1982 the Minister for Finance indicated that the Government had decided not to proceed with the tax credit proposals in the 27 January budget and that the £4 million from the family income supplement thus released would be re-allocated to provide a double week's payment in September and December for the child dependants of weekly social welfare recipients.
