Vol. 336 No. 5

Written Answers. - Dublin Hospital Facilities.

750.

asked the Minister for Health the present position regarding the provision of (a) adequate casualty and (b) maternity facilities at James Connolly Memorial Hospital, Blanchardstown, County Dublin.

A new casualty department was opened at James Connolly Memorial Hospital in July 1981 to cater for the hospital's casualty requirements and I understand that it is operating satisfactorily.

With regard to maternity services, I have agreed to the provision of a 45 bed obstetric unit at the hospital. This unit is being planned as part of the overall development of the hospital.
