Vol. 336 No. 5

Written Answers. - Cork Hospital Facilities.

751.

asked the Minister for Health if he has received a proposal from the Southern Health Board for the provision of extra theatre facilities at St. Mary's Orthopaedic Hospital, Gurranabraher, Cork; the date he received the proposals; and when he will be in a position to make a decision.

The Southern Health Board submitted a proposal to the Department on 5 July 1978 to provide additional operating theatres at St. Mary's Orthopaedic Hospital, Gurranabraher. A scheme to provide two extra operating theatres and to replace the two existing theatres was approved, but it was not possible to allow it to proceed beyond the preliminary planning stage in view of the limited capital resources available. I am keeping it under review in the light of the financial situation.
