Vol. 336 No. 5

Written Answers. - Prisoner's Parole.

956.

asked the Minister for Justice whether a review has been made in the case of a prisoner (details supplied) the position vis-à-vis parole in this case as this prisoner made a submission to his Department two years ago and has heard nothing since; and if he will give details of the response to this submission.

The prisoner's case is kept under review. The prisoner must be aware that the offence was such that, in the normal course, a long term of imprisonment is to be expected. When a decision is taken to aim at a date for release the prisoner will be informed. I cannot say when that is likely to be.
