Vol. 336 No. 5

Written Answers. - Local Loans Fund Account.

446.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason the publication of the Local Loans Fund account for the Government accounting year 1 April 1974—31 December 1974 was not announced until 2 April 1982 in Iris Oifigiúil; if the account for 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980 and 1981 have yet been published; if not, why; and if the law in regard to the timely publication of Local Loans Fund accounts is being complied with adequately both in the spirit and in the letter.

The relevant statutory requirements governing the Local Loans Fund accounts relate to the auditing by the Comptroller and Auditor General and the laying before both Houses of the Oireachtas. These requirements were complied with in respect of the accounts for the financial years ended 31 December 1974 to 1980, inclusive. The 1981 account is in course of preparation at present.

The reference in Iris Oifigiúil of 2 April 1982 to the Local Loans Fund account for the financial period 1 April 1974 to 31 December 1974 was to the printing of the account which was subject to delay. However, this account was laid before both Houses of the Oireachtas, in stencil form, in April 1977, thus complying with the statutory requirements.

Printed copies of the Local Loans Fund accounts up to and including 1980 are available from the Stationery Office.
