asked the Minister for Finance if discussions have taken place between his Department and the Central Bank about the manner in which the Central Bank Act, 1971, is being administered at present; and if he has proposals to introduce a depositors insurance scheme for the protection of small depositors.

The operation of the Currency and Central Bank Acts generally is kept under review in my Department and the Central Bank.

Proposals to amend the Central Bank Act, 1971, including the possible introduction of limited arrangements for the protection of depositors, are under examination in my Department.
