asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will arrange to have approval issued to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who applied five weeks ago for a five per cent interest subsidy under the national scheme.

Payment will be made shortly.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when an EEC sheep subsidy will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny.

The first instalment of the EEC scheme of premiums for good quality ewes 1981-82 was paid on 30 September 1981 to the father of the person named who was then the registered herdowner. The second instalment will be paid to the person named, as he has become the registered herdowner since, when the EEC notifies the amount of the second instalment to us.

The person named applied under the 1981 sheep headage scheme in the disadvantaged areas but was not eligible for payment as he does not own or rent mountain grazings in an area designated as being disadvantaged.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will explain the circumstances in which a farmer (details supplied) in Bandon, County Cork who was due to receive a 50 per cent grant under the farm modernisation scheme for a drainage and reclamation project on his farm was only approved for a grant of £605 when the cost amounted to £2,900; if he will take immediate steps to have the grant approval rectified; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am arranging to have an officer of my Department call on the applicant in this case to investigate the position.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a headage payment for severely handicapped areas will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Clare.

The person named applied for a 1981 cattle headage grant under the disadvantaged areas schemes.

In his application he indicated that he occupied 17 acres owned by his employer. He has been asked to supply documentary evidence in support of his claim. When he does so, he will be paid the cattle headage grant provided he satisfies the other terms and conditions of the scheme.
