asked the Minister for the Environment if his Department will pay the £1,000 grant which is due to a person (details supplied) in County Sligo.

A grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and that the other conditions applying to the grant scheme have been complied with.

541.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a £1,000 new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Leitrim.

A grant will be paid when an inspection establishes that the house has been satisfactorily completed and that the other conditions applying to the grant scheme have been complied with.

542.

asked the Minister for the Environment when a new house grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in Loughboy, County Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

The grant will be paid shortly.

543.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a house improvement grant has not been paid to persons (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

A previous house improvement grant was paid in two instalments to the applicant's father in respect of this house in May 1970, and June 1977.

Under the Housing Regulations, 1980 (as amended), a second grant may not be paid in respect of work commenced within ten years of the payment of a previous grant, except in special circumstances.

This application was considered for a second grant, but as the works involved did not come within the scope of the special works allowable, a grant could not be approved.

544.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange to have an early inspection carried out for a new house grant for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny as the work has been completed for quite some time.

My Department have not been notified that the house has been completed and is occupied by the applicant. In view of the information conveyed by the Deputy, an inspection will now be arranged with a view to payment of a grant, if in order.

545.

asked the Minister for the Environment the present position in relation to the application for a home improvement grant for a person (details supplied) in County Meath; when an inspector will visit; when the application was received; and if the applicant has to do anything further at this stage.

This application was received on 29 October 1981, and the Department's inspector reported on 20 November 1981 that work was commenced prior to inspection. As it is an absolute condition of eligibility under the house improvement grants scheme that work must not commence prior to the Department's inspector's visit, the applicant was informed on 26 November 1981 that a grant could not be allowed.
