Vol. 336 No. 7

Written Answers. - Training for Fishing Industry.

20.

(Donegal South-West) asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry if he is satisfied with the level of training and education for young persons who are anxious to join the fishing industry; and the steps he is taking to improve the position.

Young persons anxious to join the fishing industry can avail of the training and education facilities provided by An Bord Iascaigh Mhara. The board also provide facilities for the training of experienced fishermen as skippers at the National Fishery School in Greencastle and at local centres with the aid of the mobile training unit. I am fully satisfied with the board's training and education programme.
