Vol. 336 No. 7

Written Answers. - Ballyfermot (Dublin) Sports Complex.

340.

asked the Minister for Education when it is expected that the grant of £333,000 which was promised by his Department for the building of a sports complex at Ballyfermot, Dublin, will be paid; from which fund the moneys are being made available and the reason letters have issued from his Department indicating that all funds available for such projects were totally committed by the previous Government.

A grant of £333,000 has been allocated to the Ballyfermot Sports Federation towards the cost of providing a sports and leisure complex at Ballyfermot. Of this sum, £266,000 which was initially allocated in June 1981 and was subsequently withdrawn in July 1981 and was then reallocated in February 1982, is available in the current year from funds allocated to my Department's community, youth, recreational and employment programme and the balance of £67,000 will be provided in 1983.

The grant will be paid in instalments as building work progresses. Payments will issue following receipts of periodical architect's certificates in respect of the value of construction work carried out on the project.

The funds made available for capital grant assistance from the employment Guarantee fund for the community, youth, recreational and employment programme were fully committed for the list of projects selected by my predecessor as Minister of State at the Department of Education.
