Vol. 336 No. 7

Written Answers. - Departmental Fees Revenue.

449.

asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs the approximate amount of additional revenue which would accrue to his Department this year if all fees charged by them had been increased fully in line with inflation since they were introduced.

All adjustments in diplomatic and consular fees from 1956 to August 1981 have been made on the basis of changes in the consumer price index in relevant intervening periods. On 1 August 1981 passport and other consular fees were increased by 100 per cent by Government instruction and on 20 January 1982 passport fees were increased by a further 25 per cent by Government instruction. It would not, without an unwarranted expenditure of time and resources, be possible to supply the Deputy with the information he seeks in relation to the period between the introduction of consular fees and 1956.
