Vol. 336 No. 7

Written Answers. - Departmental Fees Revenue.

518.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare the approximate amount of additional revenue which would accrue to his Department this year if all the fees charged by it had been increased fully in line with inflation since they were introduced.

The only fees collected by my Department are in respect of the use of impressed stamping machines by employers for the purpose of stamping insurance cards. Since the introduction of fully paid pay-related contributions in April 1979 and the consequent abolition of the social insurance card the machines are used only to stamp wet-time cards.

If the basic fee of £1.50, which has not been altered since it was first introduced, had been increased fully in line with inflation the approximate additional revenue which would accrue to my Department this year would be £470.00.
