asked the Minister for Defence the number and location of artillery ranges in the State; the number and location of artillery ranges capable of catering for rifles and machine guns in the State; the number of both owned by the State; and the number and location of other lands owned by his Department and the acreage involved.

The two artillery ranges in the State are located at the Glen of Imaal, County Wicklow and Kilworth, County Cork. Both are owned by the State and can be used for the firing of rifles and machine guns.

There are approximately 11,500 acres of lands owned by the State and administered by my Department (including lands covered by buildings, etc.) at other locations as listed below:—
