Vol. 337 No. 1

Written Answers. - County Wicklow Job Creation Problems.

639.

asked the Minister for Industry and Energy if, in view of the large number of people, both skilled and unskilled, available for and seeking employment in County Wicklow, he will outline his proposals for job creation in the county.

I am aware of the employment needs of County Wicklow and have been assured by the Industrial Development Authority that they are vigorously promoting the county for suitable industry.

The IDA have over 42 acres of land available for industry at five locations throughout the county. In addition the IDA have a 7,000 sq.ft. factory available in Carnew and a 9,000 sq.ft. factory at Rathnew. A further 7,000 sq.ft. factory in Baltinglass and a 24,000 sq.ft. factory and five cluster units of 3,000 sq.ft. each in Arklow are nearing completion.

The provision of these facilities will increase the attractiveness of County Wicklow as an industrial location.
