Vol. 337 No. 1

Written Answers. - Clogherhead (Louth) Housing Scheme.

650.

asked the Minister for the Environment when sanction to proceed to invite tenders will issue to Louth County Council in respect of Clogherhead housing scheme, County Louth; and the number of houses involved.

Under devolved procedures local authorities may build schemes of up to 60 houses or less without my prior sanction, subject to a number of requirements including local consultations with Department's inspector, agreement to unit costs and keeping within the available capital allocation. The question of sanction to proceed to invite tenders for this scheme does not therefore arise.

On 2 June 1982, Louth County Council was notified of an additional allocation of £250,000 for new work and this allocation included provision for a 34-house local authority housing scheme at Clogherhead which the council wish to commence this year. I understand that the council are at present preparing a revised layout for the scheme following consultations with my Department's inspector.
