asked the Taoiseach the approximate amount of additional revenue which would accrue to his Department this year if all the fees charged by it had been increased fully in line with inflation since they were introduced.

No revenue accrues to the Department of the Taoiseach by way of fees.

The latest complete year for which the information can be furnished in respect of the Central Statistics Office is the year ended 30 June 1982. It is estimated that the total amount of additional revenue which would accrue to the Central Statistics in that year if all the fees charged had been increased fully in line with the consumer price index since they were introduced is about £5,000. The total amount received in fees by the Central Statistics Office in the year in question is estimated at £9,800.

The fees for trade statistic returns which comprise the bulk of the fee receipts in the Central Statistics Office were revised substantially in March of this year.
