Written Answers. - County Waterford Schools.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the delay in providing a permanent extension to Ballinameela national school, Cappagh, County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

On the basis of the original brief from the Department of Education a feasibility study was prepared in October 1981 by the Commissioners of Public Works for the provision on the existing site of two additional classrooms and a general purposes room at Ballinameela national school, County Waterford. In January 1982 the Department of Education decided that four new classrooms and a general purposes room should be provided. The new proposals necessitated the acquisition of additional ground by the chairman of the board of management and he was given maps to assist him in the matter. I understand that he expects to be able to acquire the additional land and in anticipation of the completion of that transaction the commissioners will prepare sketch plans at an early date. There has been no undue delay in dealing with the case.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason for the delay in providing a new national school in Aglish, County Waterford; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Sketch plans for the erection of the proposed new national school at Aglish, County Waterford, have been prepared by the Office of Public Works and were sent to the Department of Education on 21 June 1982 for consideration. Given the large number of schools' projects on hands there has been no undue delay in dealing with this case.
