Vol. 337 No. 1

Written Answers. - Navan Hospital Appointments.

578.

asked the Minister for Health if he will sanction the appointment of a registrar and House officer for the orthopaedic unit at Navan, County Meath.

A proposal from the North Eastern Health Board for the appointment of additional junior medical staff for the Orthopaedic Unit at Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, is at present being considered by my Department. Because of the present restriction on the appointment of additional posts in the public service and the scarcity of resources generally it is unlikely that the matter can be favourably considered in the near future. The position will be kept under review.
