asked the Minister for Fisheries and Forestry if he will give details of the composition, purpose, date of appointment and frequency of meetings of each inter-Departmental committee in which his Department is involved; and if the committees have produced or will produce a written report on their work.

Presumably the question related to inter-Departmental committees set up under the aegis of my Department. Following are the particulars requested:—

Committee: Inter-Departmental Committee on Lough Sheelin.

Composition: Department of Fisheries and Forestry, Department of the Environment, Department of Agriculture, The Central Fisheries Board, An Comhairle Oiliúna Talmhaíochta (ACOT), An Foras Talúntais, Cavan County Council.

Purpose: To consider means of combating the eutrophication of Lough Sheelin arising mainly from the spreading of pig slurry in the lake catchment area, including the review of the operation of the transport subsidy scheme set up by the Minister on the recommendation of the Committee.

Date of Appointment: 2 November 1979.

Frequency of Meetings: Meetings are held as necessary. The committee has held six meetings since its appointment.

Where the Department are involved in Inter-Departmental committees established under the aegis of other Departments the particulars will no doubt be furnished by the Ministers concerned.
