Vol. 337 No. 4

Written Answers. - Tralee Hospital.

351.

asked the Minister for Health whether he is satisfied with the situation regarding the County Hospital in Tralee, County Kerry; and if he will specifically state (a) when a furnishing of the hospital will be completed, (b) if an emergency paediatric unit will be provided and (c) when the hospital will be ready to receive its first patients.

I am satisfied that progress on the equipment and furnishing of Tralee General Hospital is on target for the commissioning of 310 beds in early 1984.

Specifically the position is that (a) the furnishing and equipping of the new general hospital at Tralee is in progress and is expected to be substantially completed by December 1983; (b) Initially, a paediatric unit of 21 beds plus ten neonatal beds will be provided, and will cope with all types of paediatric cases; (c) The reception of the first patients in the hospital is scheduled for early 1984.
