The numbers of indictable offences reported or known to the Garda as having been committed in the Dublin Metropolitan Area are as follows: 1981, 52,845; 1980, 41,778; 1979, 36,156. The figures for 1979 and 1980 are published in the annual crime reports of the Commissioner, Garda Síochána. The report for 1981 will be published shortly. In the meantime, the 1981 figures quoted are provisional.
