asked the Taoiseach the adult population in the catchment areas of each of the employment exchanges in Dublin city.

The areas served by individual local employment offices are not sufficiently well prescribed in terms of specific geographically defined areas to enable corresponding population figures to be compiled.

asked the Taoiseach the number of persons on the live register and the unemployment rates in each of the employment exchanges on the north side of the city in each of the last five years.

The number of persons on the live register at each employment exchange in the north side of Dublin city on the last Friday in June for each year since 1977 is as follows:

*The Navan Road exchange came into operation in June 1981.

Transfer of registrants between offices as well as the opening of new offices affect the level of the figures in individual offices.

Since it is not possible to provide estimates of the total labour force by local employment office, the information requested by the Deputy in respect of unemployment rates is not available.
