Vol. 337 No. 5

Written Answers. - Exchequer Tax Revenue.

417.

asked the Minister for Finance the estimated yield in Exchequer revenue of an increase in the rate of duty in section 83 of the Finance Bill, 1982 (Bank Levy) to one per cent of current and deposit accounts and the abolition of the threshold.

A levy of 1 per cent on current and deposit accounts on the same basis as that proposed in section 83 of the Finance Bill but without the £5 million exemption threshold would yield about £68 million.

418.

asked the Minister for Finance the net revenue to or expenditure by the Exchequer if section 3 of the Finance Bill, 1982 were amended (details supplied).

The cost to the Exchequer of implementing the scale of rates suggested by the Deputy is estimated at £36 million in 1982 and £55 million in a full year.
