asked the Minister for Education when it is proposed to build an extension to Ardfinnan national school, Clonmel, County Tipperary as there is gross overcrowding.

I understand from the Commissioners of Public Works that their architect has recently furnished them with a detailed report indicating how the proposed extension at Ardfinnan National School, Clonmel, County Tipperary, could be accommodated on the existing site with a ballcourt on an adjoining site extension. The commissioners have this matter under consideration at present and I understand that their report will be forwarded to my Department at an early date. It is not possible at this stage to say when building will commence. My Department sanctioned a grant on 28 May 1982 towards improvements to provide temporary accommodation pending the erection of the proposed extension.

asked the Minister for Education when he proposes to build a new national school at Drangan, County Tipperary.

As stated in reply to a previous question on 12 March 1981, it is proposed to extend the boys' national school in Drangan, County Tipperary, to provide for the amalgamation of the two existing schools there.

A grant has been sanctioned towards the cost of the extension and the Commissioners of Public Works are attending to the remaining planning stages so as to bring the project to tender stage as soon as possible.
