Vol. 337 No. 6

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

554.

asked the Minister for the Environment when the first payment of £1,000 under the £4,000 new house grant scheme will be paid to a person (details supplied) in Waterford; and the reasons for the delay in paying this grant.

There was some delay in carrying out an inspection. However, the grant will be paid shortly.

555.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason a person (details supplied) in Cappagh, County Waterford, was refused a new house grant; and if he will reconsider the case with a view to allowing him a grant.

There is no record in my Department of the receipt of an application for a new house grant from the person named. However an application for house improvement grants was received from him. The position is that a grant in respect of the building of a bathroom and a bedroom cannot be allowed as, contrary to a qualifying condition of the scheme, the work had commenced before an inspection of the house was carried out. A grant has been approved for the installation of water and sewerage facilities.
