asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone kiosk will be provided in the Abbey, Clontuskert, Ballyleague, County Roscommon.

The provision of a telephone kiosk at this location is not considered warranted at present and it is not proposed therefore to provide one there.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state, in view of the fact that engineering work laying cables is progressing in Faughart Parish at present, when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Louth as houses on either side of this applicant are being connected.

It is expected that service will be provided for the person named within about a year. It has not been possible in the time available to research the reference to other applications. If the Deputy will furnish details of the applications referred to including names and addresses further inquiries will be made.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Finglas, Dublin 11, who has been waiting almost five years for the provision of service which is urgently required.

Telephone service cannot be provided for the person named at his new address until necessary cabling has been carried out. It is unlikely that the necessary cabling can be completed for about a year because of the volume of engineering work on hands and requiring attention in the Dundalk area.

The existing kiosk at Taghmon Village is considered adequate to cater for the needs of the area. It is not proposed therefore to provide an additional kiosk at Taghmon at present.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when persons (details supplied) in Finglas, Dublin 11, will have their telephone transferred to their new address as they have been waiting now for four years and the person in question is a member of the fire brigade.

Service will be provided as soon as possible but it is unlikely that the necessary cabling will be completed for about a year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that three extensions on a telephone number (details supplied) have been out of order and have been reported for the last two months, without apparently any action being taken on them; and if, in view of the employment implications, he will now give this matter his most urgent attention.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if the building of the telephone exchange at Dunshaughlin, County Meath, was included in the construction programme undertaken by the Government in 1979 to combat unemployment; if so, why it will not be operational until the end of 1983; when work commenced on the exchange; the work involved; the work done so far; and the work remaining to be completed.

Provision of a new telephone exchange building at Dunshaughlin was included in the accelerated telecommunications building programme launched in March 1979. Construction of the building at Dunshaughlin commenced in April 1981 and was completed, on target, in March 1982.

As indicated in the reply to the Deputy's Question No. 478 on 24 June 1982, the spare capacity at the existing exchange is expected to be adequate to meet requirements until the new exchange becomes available about the end of next year.

The service is partly in operation and is expected to be fully in operation in about three weeks.

The person in question was not appointed. An appointment was made on 10 November 1981.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs whether he is aware that the telephone of a person (details supplied) in County Cork has been disconnected despite the fact that (a) a dispute existed over the amount of the account alleged to be due (b) over 75 per cent of the disputed sum had been paid a month previously by way of good faith (c) the subscriber is a widow in her 75th year and in poor health and (d) correspondence took place last month with him on the problem; if he will take immediate steps to ensure that service is restored; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

It is regretted that the subscriber's telephone was disconnected while she was in correspondence with the telephone accounts section. The subscriber's service, which was withdrawn on 11 June, was restored on 9 July.

The number quoted is not that of the phone that had been rented recently by the person mentioned. The person named rented another line on which service was withdrawn for nonpayment, and a notice terminating his agreement issued on 6 July.

There are 15 waiting applications bearing Bohernabreena addresses. It is expected that service will be provided for the applicants progressively within the next six to twelve months or so.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if the new mobile exchange at Somerville Avenue, Dublin 12 has been damaged by vandals; and, if so, if this will inhibit the exchange in providing service.

The mobile exchange at Sommerville Avenue, Crumlin, Dublin 12, was damaged by vandals. Subject to remedial works being completed quickly, it is still expected that the exchange will be in service in the autumn but this will be some months later than had been planned.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that a number of residents at Orwell Park, Templeogue, Dublin 12, are without telephone service; and when service will be restored to them.
