Vol. 337 No. 9

Written Answers. - Payment for Spectacles.

611.

asked the Minister for Health whether he will now arrange to have the necessary moneys in respect of spectacles paid to a medical card holder (details supplied) in Skerries, County Dublin, who has had a recent cataract operation, in view of the fact that the Eastern Health Board have claimed that payment will not issue for at least two months.

The person referred to in the question will be receiving an authorisation from the Eastern Health Board for treatment under the board's sight testing scheme in about three weeks time. The cost of spectacles prescribed under this scheme is paid direct by the health board to the dispensing optician.
