Vol. 337 No. 9

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Cashel (Tipperary) Schools.

24.

Mr. Treacy

asked the Minister for Finance when the Office of Public Works will authorise the acceptance of a tender for the new primary schools in Cashel, County Tipperary; if he will explain the delay in giving such authorisation; and if he will give an assurance that no further delays will be tolerated as one of the present schools was first condemned as far back as 1946.

25.

Mr. Treacy

asked the Minister for Finance when work will commence on the new primary schools in Cashel, County Tipperary; and if he will ensure that they are completed without any more undue delay.

(Clare): I propose to take Questions Nos. 24 and 25 together.

The Commissioners of Public Works authorised the reverend chairman of the board of management of Cashel national school, County Tipperary, on 21 May 1982 to accept a tender for the erection of a new central school. The approval of the Department of Education to proceed to contract was received on 17 May 1982.

The arrangements for the placing of the contract, commencement and completion of the work are matters for the school management in consultation with their architect.
