Vol. 337 No. 9

Written Answers. - Dublin Transportation Authority.

147.

andMr. Quinn asked the Minister for Transport when he proposes to establish the Dublin Transportation Authority; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

148.

asked the Minister for Transport when the Dublin Transportation Authority will be established; the proposed structure of the authority; the composition of its board; its specific responsibility in relation to public transport; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 147 and 148 together.

Legislative proposals in relation to the Dublin Transportation Authority are currently under consideration by the Government. I hope to bring the legislation before the House in the next session and to establish the authority as early as possible thereafter.

It would not be appropriate for me to discuss the composition, structure or function of the authority in advance of publication of the Bill.
