Vol. 337 No. 9

Written Answers. - Accommodation for Homeless.

322.

asked the Minister for Health the progress, results and findings of the national survey on accommodation for homeless people carried out by the ad hoc committee of the Departments of Health and the Environment, health boards and local authorities announced in March 1982; and when the committee will produce recommendations to achieve its stated aim of better co-operation between the various agencies involved in the provision of services for the homeless.

Members of the ad hoc committee referred to by the Deputy, representative of the Departments of Health and the Environment, health boards and local authorities, have been nominated. I expect that the ad hoc committee will be meeting within a month.

My Department are at present collecting information from all health boards on accommodation provision for homeless people with a view to having the information available for the first meeting of the ad hoc committee.

I am not in a position to say at this stage when the ad hoc committee will produce its recommendations.
