Vol. 337 No. 9

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

461.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will arrange to pay an interest subsidy to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

This applicant was paid a subsidy on 31 May 1982. An application for subsidy on foot of a second loan was recently received and is at present being processed.

462.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will arrange for an inspection of a dairy herd for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford under the additional heifer grant scheme.

The closing date for receipt of applications under the scheme of assistance for the expansion of the cattle breeding herd is 15 July 1982 and inspections will be carried out as soon as possible after that date to verify the number of additional calved heifers claimed.

To cut down on the travelling and manpower costs involved, inspections must be planned to ensure that all herdowners who applied in a particular area are visited around the same time but until all applications have been received it is not possible to indicate precisely when a particular individual will be inspected.

463.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will arrange to pay a farm grant to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

There is no record of an application for grant aid under the farm modernisation scheme from the person mentioned.

464.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason for the delay in paying the 1981 sheep headage grant to a person (details supplied) in County Cork; and whether arrangements are now being made for payment.

The maximum number of livestock units on which an applicant could be paid under the 1981 cattle and sheep headage schemes in the disadvantaged areas was 30. The person named was paid on 30 livestock units under the cattle headage scheme. Since it would be more favourable for him, however, to be paid on his sheep livestock units first, an adjustment is being made on this basis and a supplementary payment will issue to him shortly.

465.

asked the Minister for Agriculture the reason a person (details supplied) in County Kerry has not been paid a mountain suckler cow grant.

It is a condition of the EEC suckler cow premium scheme that an applicant must earn at least 50 per cent of his income from farming activities. As the person named has indicated that he earned more outside the farm than from his farming activities in the income tax year ended 5 April 1981, he is not eligible for payment of premium.

466.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when a cattle headage grant will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Donegal.

The person named was paid her 1981 cattle headage grant under the disadvantaged areas schemes on 9 July 1982.

467.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when sheep subsidy and suckler cow scheme grants will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Donegal.

The deceased father of the person named was the registered herd owner and the Department are awaiting letters of administration before deciding on whether the person named is entitled to be paid the grant in question.

468.
