asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be restored to Dublin Corporation's Bow Lane Depot, Bow Lane, Dublin 8, as this depot is the chief materials store for many parts of the city.

Service will be restored as soon as possible, but this may take a week or so because of the large number of faults on hands.

421.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of telephone applications outstanding in the Lorcan housing estate, Santry, Dublin 9; and when the engineering works necessary to make these connections will be completed.

There are 17 waiting applications in the Lorcan housing estate, Santry, Dublin 9. It is expected that the necessary cabling to enable these applications to be met will be completed within the next year or so.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of telephone applications outstanding in the Elm Mount Estate, Beaumont, Dublin 9; and when the engineering works necessary to make these connections will be completed.

There are 24 applicants awaiting service in the Elm Mount Estate. It is expected that the necessary engineering work to enable the applications to be met will be completed within about a year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the application for a telephone service by a person (details supplied) in County Dublin will be met.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the manual exchange at Killybegs, County Donegal, will become automatic.

Assuming early resolution of problems which are hindering construction of the necessary building, it is expected that Killybegs exchange will become automatic in 1984.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the manual exchange at Carrick, County Donegal, will become automatic.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the manual exchange at Kilcar, County Donegal, will become automatic.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the manual exchange at Frosses, County Donegal, will become automatic.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 425 to 433, inclusive, together.

Bunbeg, Donegal town, Glenties and Inver (which serves Frosses) are expected to be converted to automatic working during 1983 and Annagry, Ardara, Carrick, Kilcar and Lettermacaward in 1984.

Note: Forecasts for the provision of automatic service are based on the assumption that contract dates for buildings, equipment, etc., are adhered to within reasonable limits.

434.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will outline the nature of the additional engineering work, including line work and cabling, which has to be carried out in the Harristown area of Navan, County Meath before additional telephones can be connected there; when the work is likely to be completed; the number of telephone applications waiting for service in the area; and when he expects that all the applicants will have telephones installed and when the work will be completed.

Necessary engineering work, including cabling and cable distribution, is expected to be completed within about six months.

There are three waiting applications bearing Harristown, Navan addresses. It is expected that service will be provided for the applicants within about six months after the necessary cabling has been completed.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the telephone number of a major agricultural machinery distributor (details supplied) in Dublin 12 will be restored to working order as it is causing severe problems both to the firm itself and to farmer customers during the peak season of agricultural machinery use.

Service will be restored as soon as possible, but this may take a week or so because of the large number of faults on hands.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone will be connected for a person (details supplied) in County Westmeath; when the application was received; and if he will outline the additional work, if any, which has to be carried out before the telephone can be connected.

The person named applied for telephone service in December 1978. Provision of service is dependent on additional equipment being brought into operation at the local automatic exchange. It is expected that service will be provided within about a year.

437.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs his plans for the provision of further engineering work, including cabling, which is necessary for the provision of additional telephones in the Baltrasna area of Ashbourne, County Meath; when the work is likely to be carried out; the number of applicants waiting for telephone service in the area; and if all of the applicants will have a service provided when the engineering work has been completed.

There are 11 waiting applications bearing Baltrasna, Ashbourne addresses. Necessary engineering work, including cabling, is expected to be carried out during 1983.

Service will be provided for the waiting applicants when the necessary engineering work has been completed.

438.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 20 who is urgently in need of a telephone for medical and social reasons.

Services will be provided as soon as possible but it is unlikely that the necessary cabling will be completed for about a year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Skerries, County Dublin as he is an invalid.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone will be installed for a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will accede to fishermen's request for a telephone kiosk at the pier side of Ballycotton, County Cork.

It is not planned to provide an additional telephone kiosk to serve Ballycotton at present; the area is regarded as adequately served by the existing kiosk at the Garda barracks, which is not heavily used.
