Vol. 337 No. 11

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

186.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the residents of Pine Court, Newtownpark Avenue, Blackrock, County Dublin, can expect to be provided with telephone service; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone kiosk will be provided at Derrane Social Centre, Derrane, Roscommon.

The provision of a telephone kiosk at Derrane is not regarded as warranted at present and it is not proposed therefore to provide one there.

188.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when his Department will be in a position to provide telephone and telex services for a firm (details supplied) in Dublin 7.

189.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin 1.

I propose with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle to take Questions Nos. 188 and 189 together. Within about a year.

109.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephoen service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Lucan, County Dublin as she is urgently in need of service.

Service will be provided as soon as it is possible to do so but it is unlikely that the necessary cabling can be completed for about a year.

191.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Castlecomer, County Kilkenny.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will provide a night telephone service for a person (details supplied) in Castlerea, County Roscommon.

There are 21 applicants for night service at the exchange concerned, 14 of whom are ahead of the person in respect of whom the question is being asked. Night service cannot be provided at present as the capacity of the trunk circuits is exhausted and it will be some time before additional circuits are provided. The question of introducing continuous service at the exchange in question is being pursued. If this proves possible, it will obviate the need for special arrangements for night service.

193.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny.

Service will be provided as soon as possible but it is unlikely that the necessary cabling will be completed for about a year.
