Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

195.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will instruct his officials to erect as a matter of urgency and in the interests of public safety a telephone kiosk at Palmer, Pearse, Brothers Park, Ballyboden, Dublin 16, in view of the recent development of the new estate adjacent to it, where no telephones are available.

It is proposed to provide a telephone kiosk at Pearse Brothers Park later this year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Donnybrook, Dublin 4.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in providing a telephone service for a firm (details supplied) in Rathmines, Dublin 6; and when it is likely that this application will be met.

It has not been possible to trace an application on behalf of the firm named. If the Deputy can furnish additional information e.g. when and where the application was made, further efforts will be made to trace it.

198.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason an application to transfer a telephone by persons (details supplied) in Rathfarnham, Dublin 16, has not been met as they applied three years ago in view of the fact that recent applications for telephone service have been met in almost all cases on their estate.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Dublin.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 198 and 199 together.

It has not been possible to meet this application, which is for a new line, pending completion of underground cabling in the area. It is expected that service will be provided within the next three months or so.

200.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when an extra line to his surgery or alternatively an internal extension from his home to his surgery will be provided for a doctor (details supplied) in Dundrum, Dublin 14, as both numbers have priority listings for emergency breakdown services.

An additional exchange line will be provided within about three months.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the request for a telephone transfer by a person (details supplied) in Kilternan, County Dublin will be effected.

It is expected that service will be provided within about a year.

202.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be installed for a person (details supplied) in County Limerick as he urgently needs a service for business purposes and has been waiting for some considerable time.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Castleconnell, County Limerick as she has been three years on the waiting list.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a firm (details supplied) in Swords, County Dublin.

Service will be provided as soon as it is possible to do so but it is unlikely that the necessary cabling will be available for about a year.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in Blanchardstown, County Dublin as he is urgently in need of service.

It is expected that service will be provided within about a year.

206.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the telephone system in Macroom district, County Cork will become automatic.

About the end of next year.

207.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if his Department is aware of the urgent need for a telephone kiosk at Rathwire, Killucan, County Westmeath; and when his Department will be in a position to provide service.

The provision of a kiosk at this location is not regarded as warranted at present and it is not proposed therefore to provide one here.
