Vol. 337 No. 11

Written Answers. - Westmeath Radio Link Station.

208.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the proposals his Department had for the provision of a radio link station at Na Coska Hill, Rosemount, County Westmeath; if tenders have been sought for the work; and if it will help to improve radio and TV communications throughout the county.

The proposed radio link station at Na Coska Hill, Rosemount, County Westmeath is one of a number of such stations required in connection with the provision of a national digital radio link system to cater for the long-term requirements of the telephone trunk network. It is not intended to meet radio or TV broadcasting service requirements.

Tenders for the digital radio link systems have been received and are under consideration.
