Vol. 337 No. 11

Written Answers. - Cut Flowers Street Trading.

390.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will give an assurance that the business of street trading in cut flowers in Dublin will not be hindered.

Street trading in cut flowers in Dublin operates at present under the provisions of the Street Trading Act, 1926. My chief function in relation to that act was to approve or otherwise by-laws made by the local authority under the Act. However, the Casual Trading Act, 1980, for which the Minister for Trade, Commerce and Tourism is the responsible Minister, provides for the repeal of the Street Trading Act, 1926, by 26 March 1983. Under the Casual Trading Act it is entirely a matter for Dublin Corporation to decide, by resolution, the manner and location of street trading in the city.
