Vol. 337 No. 11

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

488.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be restored to a person (details supplied) in Dublin in view of the fact that the telephone has been out of order since 11 June.

Service will be restored as soon as possible but this may take a week or so because of the large number of faults on hands.

489.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that St. Vincent's boys school, North William Street, Dublin 1, has been without a telephone for quite some time and that this school has very young pupils aged from four and a half to eight and in case of emergency telephone calls have to be made outside the school building; and if he will treat this case as a matter of urgency.

I am aware of the application. Additional engineering work is required to provide service at the boy's school but it is unlikely that this can be completed for several months.

There is a telephone at the girls' school at the same location and the possibility of providing an extension to the boys' school is being examined. The school authorities will be advised of the results of the examination as soon as it is completed.

490.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that a person (details supplied) in Dublin paid £267.40 for the connection of a telephone on 19 February 1982 and that it has not, as yet, been connected; and if he will deal favourably with this application.

I am aware of the application. It is expected that service will be provided within about a month.
