Vol. 337 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bord na gCon.

66.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he is satisfied with the operations of Bord na gCon.

The answer to the question is in the affirmative. The recession has, of course, affected the income of the board which in consequence had to revise its operations and reduce expenditure.

Questions Nos. 67 and 68 postponed.

As this is the last day for questions before we adjourn for the Summer Recess, written replies will be given to the remaining questions on the Order Paper in the new session, he is questions to remain for oral answer on the Order Paper in the new session, he is asked to contact the General Office before 5 o'clock.

I wish to make a dignified protest at the disallowance of my Special Notice Questions in regard to the sacking of Sister Stanislaus by the Minister for Health and also my question in regard to the position of Murphy's brewery in Cork. I do not understand why these questions were disallowed.

I have to apply the rules, but you are at liberty to come to my office and hear the reasons.

(Donegal South West): Has a decision been arrived at in relation to the matter which I asked to raise on the Adjournment, that is, the question of Deputy Gay Mitchell accusing someone in the west of being a gombeen man? That is a reflection on all the people in the west and it is important, because the term “gombeen man” has certain connotations.

The Chair will communicate with the Deputy shortly.
