Vol. 337 No. 11

Written Answers. - Dublin-Wicklow Rail Electrification.

113.

asked the Minister for Transport when the electrification of the surface rail system in the Dublin area will be completed; and if the electrification will be extended to encompass the section of the line between Bray and Greystones, County Wicklow.

114.

asked the Minister for Transport the possibility of extending the electrification scheme to Greystones, County Wicklow; and if the consultations which have been taking place between his Department and CIE in connection with the matter have been finalised.

115.

asked the Minister for Transport if he will indicate in regard to the plans for the electrification of the CIE railway line in the Dublin/Wicklow area whether the Bray to Greystones line is included in the plan; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 113, 114 and 115 together.

I am informed by CIE that electrification of the Howth-Bray rail line will be effective by autumn 1983 when a partial service will operate. The full electrified services on the line will be available from early 1984 onwards.

The provision of electrified services to Greystones is not included in the present plan.

Question No. 116 postponed.
