Vol. 337 No. 11

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

150.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will arrange as soon as possible, the conversion to automatic working of the telephone exchange at the sub-post office at Curraguneen, Roscrea, County Tipperary.

151.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when the Curraguneen telephone exchange, Roscrea, County Tipperary, will be converted to automatic use.

I propose to take Questions Nos. 150 and 151 together.

Curraguneen Exchange will be closed and subscribers in the Curraguneen area will be connected to a new automatic exchange at Gortnagowna in about 12 months time.

152.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware with reference to Parliamentary Question No. 718 on 29 April 1982, that contrary to the reply given a cable does run into the home of a person (details supplied) and that this applicant is on a priority transfer list due to the serious illness of his daughter; if he is further aware that other applicants on the same estate have been connected after only nine months; and if he will have the matter examined and a detailed report prepared immediately.

Cabling to meet this application was not provided until recently and it was not possible, therefore, to provide service for the applicant at the same time as for other applicants in the area. Now that cabling has been completed service will be provided for the person named within about three months.

153.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in repairing a fault in the telephone of a person (details supplied) in Dublin.

Service to the subscriber concerned was, regrettably, withdrawn in error. It has since been restored.

154.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will ensure that the application for telephones and telex by a person (details supplied) in Dublin will be met in time for the scheduled opening of his business at the end of this month in view of the large investment in the company.

It will not, regrettably, be possible to meet this application, which was received on 30 March 1982, by the end of this month as additional cabling work will have to be carried out before service can be provided.
