Vol. 338 No. 1

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

326.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason for the delay in the transfer of a telephone for a person (details supplied) in County Cork; and if a transfer will be arranged immediately.

The person named does not live at the address quoted and a transfer of her telephone to that address cannot be allowed. An application for telephone service at the address has been recorded on behalf of the named person's brother. Because of the volume of engineering work on hands and requiring attention in the Cork area it is unlikely that it will be possible to meet the application until well into next year.

328.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a public telephone kiosk will be erected outside Walshe's public house at Bonhar, Ballydavid PO, County Kerry, under the council's guarantee scheme.

In the second half of next year.

329.

asked the Minister for posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided in Drumalee housing estate, North Circular Road, Dublin; and if he is aware that there are old people living in this estate under very difficult circumstances.

Service will be provided for applicants in the estate named as soon as possible but it is unlikely that the necessary cabling can be completed for about a year.

330.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that a person (details supplied) in Dublin 3 applied for a telephone four years ago and to date has heard nothing in relation to her application; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am aware of this application, which was made in August 1979. Service will be provided as soon as possible but it is unlikely that the necessary cabling can be completed for about a year.

331.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware of an application for telephone service from a firm (details supplied) in Dublin who applied two years ago and were told lately that there was no cable available in the area; that there was no forecast as to when the cable might be available; that this firm employ around 70 people; and that the fact that there are not telephone facilities detrimental to their business; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

Additional engineering work is necessary to enable telephone service to be provided for the company named. Service will be provided as soon as it is possible to do so but it is unlikely that the necessary work can be completed until well into next year.

332.
