Vol. 338 No. 1

Written Answers. - Telephone Service.

337.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that in the case of a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8 a telephone connection fee was paid almost a year ago but that the telephone has not yet been connected; the reason for the delay; and when it will be connected.

When the person named was invited to sign an agreement and make advance payment it was expected that telephone service would be provided for him within about three months. Regrettably, an unforeseen difficulty arose in connection with the telephone number allocated. This has now been resolved and it is expected that service will be connected within the next two weeks or so.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the reason the telephone of a person (details supplied) in Cork is still disconnected; and the reason officials of his Department have failed to contact him about his telephone account despite assurances which were given on two occasions by his office.

The telephone in question was disconnected in December 1981 for non-payment of the account. A final account which was issued earlier this year following termination of the agreement for service is still unpaid. The question of providing service again cannot be considered until the outstanding account is paid.
