Vol. 338 No. 2

Written Answers. - Compulsory Purchase.

188.

asked the Minister for the Environment the stage the comprehensive review within his Department on the law in relation to compulsory purchase has reached; if he is now in a position to formulate proposals for the changes designed to streamline and speed up the CPO process; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

As I stated in a written reply to Question No. 969 on 26 May 1982, a general review of compulsory purchase law has been carried out in my Department with a view to deciding what action might be taken to speed up the process. The Attorney General has been consulted in view of the legal and constitutional issues arising and when his views are available to me I will take whatever further action is appropriate.
