Vol. 338 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

300.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange for the immediate payment of a reconstruction grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

A grant cannot be paid in this case as, contrary to a qualifying condition under the Housing Regulations, 1980 (as amended), the work was not completed by 30 June 1981.

asked the Minister for the Environment the reason for the delay in paying a £1,000 new house grant to a person (details supplied) in County Galway.

There has been no undue delay by my Department in dealing with this case. An inspection carried out on 17 September 1982 revealed that the house was unoccupied. However, a further inspection is now being arranged with a view to payment of the grant.

302.

asked the Minister for the Environment if he will arrange to pay a house improvement grant to a person (details supplied) in County Cork.

Payment of a grant for £600 for a bathroom will be made at an early date. The applicant does not qualify for a grant for a back boiler as there is an existing chimney in the house; neither is a sewerage grant payable because a grant for this purpose was paid within the past ten years, that is to say on 29 August 1974. The applicant recently sought a bedroom grant and an inspection will be carried out shortly with a view to allocating a grant, if in order.
