Vol. 338 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers.

Might I refer the Chair to Question No. 236, which I submitted? I would like to point out that it was submitted for answer by the Taoiseach and it has in fact——

The Deputy is out of order. That is not a matter which can be raised now.

With respect, I put down my question because there are serious security implications in relation to this matter. It is a matter of national importance and the question has been passed on from the Taoiseach to the Minister for Justice.

The Deputy will appreciate that the Government decide these matters. It is the decision of the Government and that has been the precedent for a long number of years. The Government have collective responsibility and it is a matter for them. I ask the Deputy to accept that.

It is on the basis of collective responsibility that I put the question down for the Taoiseach.

I ask the Deputy to resume his seat and allow Question Time to proceed in the prescribed fashion.

In view of the urgency of this matter, I wish to have a written reply and I want to raise the matter on the Adjournment.

The Chair will communicate with the Deputy. Question No. 1 is for written reply.
