Vol. 338 No. 3

Written Answers. - Swords (Dublin) Castle.

375.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will make arrangements to provide adequate security in order to preserve the character and buildings surrounding Swords Castle, County Dublin.

Swords Castle, which is a national monument in the guardianship of the Commissioners of Public Works, is in private ownership. As guardians, the commissioners have the duty of preserving and maintaining the monument. The buildings surrounding the castle are not State property and accordingly I have no function in relation to the provision of adequate security in order to preserve the character and buildings in question.
