The new telephone exchange at Gort, County Galway which was brought into operation last June is working satisfactorily but there is an unduly high failure rate on calls to other exchanges in the Galway area due to technical problems connected with the trunk circuits serving Gort. Remedial action is being taken. There should be a significant improvement in the service when this work is completed early next year.

Service will be provided as soon as possible but it is unlikely that the necessary engineering work will be completed for about a year.
