asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when a telephone service will be provided for a person (details supplied) in County Dublin.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will provide telephone service for a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny who needs this service for business purposes.

It is expected that service will be provided within about four months.

The application referred to was cancelled in the absence of a response to an offer of service made earlier this year. If telephone service is required a fresh application should be made.

I am aware of the application. Terms are being quoted to the person named and service will be provided within about three months after the necessary agreement has been signed.

It has not been possible in the time available to trace any waiting applications at Greenogue Estate, Rathcoole, County Dublin. If the Deputy can supply further information, e.g. names, addresses and dates of applications further inquiry will be made.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the action he proposes to take to deal with the unsatisfactory service experienced by telephone subscribers in the Clondalkin area of County Dublin during the past six months; and if he will ensure that these subscribers are granted a rental rebate for the duration their telephones were out of order.

A number of cable breaks in recent months caused interruptions of telephone service in the Clondalkin area. Rebates of rental will be granted on request to subscribers who were left without service as a result.

It is planned to provide a new digital exchange at Clondalkin next year to replace the existing exchanges there. This should result in a substantial improvement of service in the area. In the meantime every effort is being made to provide the best possible standard of service with the existing equipment.
