The design for the proposed Rathowen group water scheme which will serve approximately 200 houses has been approved by my Department. A copy of the design has been sent to Westmeath County Council for examination and formal approval. As soon as the council's approval to the design is received in my Department, the group will be advised to seek tenders and to submit completed grant application forms, so that a firm estimate of costs can be prepared. At that stage State grants will be allocated to the group if in order and work may commence on the scheme.
