Vol. 338 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Written Answers. - Sligo Bridge Inquiry.

438.

asked the Minister for the Environment the number of objections, if any, he has received to the proposed new third bridge in Sligo; the reason for the public inquiry ordered by him into the construction of the bridge; when the inquiry will be held; the likely duration of the public hearing; and the likely time it will take from the ending of the inquiry until a report of the findings is submitted to him.

In view of the many issues involved, I have decided as provided in section 47 of the Local Government Act, 1946 to cause a local inquiry to be held to consider the Bridge Order application of Sligo Corporation. The inquiry will be held as soon as possible. I cannot anticipate or quantify any of the other matters referred to in the question in advance of the inquiry.
